Biography:

April 18, 2013 – The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced the signing of two new infielders to the 2013 roster. Zach Jacobs, a sophomore shortstop from Texas Lutheran University, and Mac Seibert, a freshman third baseman from Meridian Community College, will play for the Generals this summer.

“Zach and Mac are both strong defensive players that will help stabilize and add depth to our infield,” stated Blake Koch, vice president and general manager of the Victoria Generals. “Both are great kids on and off the field that we know will have a positive impact on our team this summer.”

Zach Jacobs, the grandson of well-known Victoria residents Claud & Mary Virginia Jacobs, has started all 37 games to date for TLU this spring and is hitting .248 with three doubles, 15 RBIs, 14 runs scored, eight walks, and 11 stolen bases.

Jacobs attended Brenham High School where he was an All-District and Academic All-State selection. Jacobs helped lead Brenham to a state championship in 2010 and also to a state semifinals appearance in 2009.

“Zach comes to us after having played for two very successful baseball programs in the state of Texas while at Brenham and TLU,” commented Koch. “He has a winner’s mentality that we hope will be infectious in our locker room.”

Following a successful playing career at prestigious Tate High School in Cantonment, Florida, Mac Seibert IV was selected in the 36th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres.

Seibert is currently hitting .317 as a freshman at Meridian with six doubles, three home runs, 14 RBIs, 17 runs scored, and 13 walks.

Seibert’s father, Malcolm, was drafted in the 36th round of the 1989 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers and played in the Tiger organization for two years. Malcolm went onto become the head coach at Jefferson Davis Community College before making the jump to the American Association as the head coach for the Pensacola Pelicans in 2007 and 2008. Malcolm is currently a scout for the New York Mets organization.

“Mac has a great baseball background having grown up around the game,” commented Koch. “He’s already been drafted before and profiles to be a future pro ball player.”
