Biography:
The Victoria Generals have announced that right-handed pitcher Michael Oros and first baseman Trace Knoblauch, two key players from the Generals 2010 Texas Collegiate League Championship team, will return to help the Generals defend their title this summer.

“We’re excited to have two more familiar faces back in Victoria this summer,” commented Blake Koch, Victoria’s general manager. “Michael and Trace are both great young men that represent the type of players that we want to build our team around.”

Michael Oros, a junior at Sam Houston State University, will enter into his third summer season with the Generals in 2011. Oros started eight games for the Generals last season, posting a 4-1 record to go with a 2.19 ERA. The right-hander struck out 49 batters in 53.1 innings of work while holding opponents to a .197 batting average.

In 2009 with the Generals, Oros went 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA and struck out 26 batters in 29.1 innings.

Prior to transferring to Sam Houston, Oros helped lead San Jacinto College to back-to-back Junior College World Series appearances in 2009 and 2010.

“Michael is a veteran pitcher that has had a lot of success in our league the past two years,” stated Koch. “It will be a big asset to our team to have someone with his experience leading our pitching staff this summer.”

Trace Knoblauch, a sophomore at Indiana University, returns to the Generals after making 31 starts last summer at first base and designated hitter. The switch-hitter pounded out six doubles, one home run, and 15 RBIs to go along with 22 walks and a .273 batting average. Knoblauch’s .431 on-base percentage ranked fifth best in the TCL.

“Trace really helped carry our team the second-half of the season last year,” commented Koch. “He’s a hard worker that gets better and better with every game he plays.”
